My Artwork / 2018
Broken
So my piece is trying to show school spirit, but also showing the flaws in our Community. Such as drug dealing, stealing, fights in the first and second week of school, etc. That is the part that is painted maroon. The gray is supposed to represent any other problems you might have/or think of. The white represents the pieceful/problemless part of our school, and town. The brown shows some of the filled in spaces that need to be added, such as a recreational area that can be used openly to everybody. This piece is supposed to also show unity to try and bring people together to try to fix some of the problems.

Drowning in Flames
For this project we had to tell a story in our work. I chose to think about a depression aspect on things. I used different colors to show different moods on everybody to signify who they are of what they are feeling. The person hanging off of the edge is showing the feeling of drowning in your feelings and emotions. Each of the different places have meanings. The different colored bats and the Grim Reaper, you would think that the background would be a dark color, right? Wrong, I chose whit because it shows that they are at peace and understand, and while on the bottom of the page the person is in distress, but he doesn't care at all because his feeling has engulfed him and made him not care.
Reevaluate!
This piece of artwork is showing not just one problem that needs to be solved, but it is supposed to represent all, but not exactly. It is supposed to make people reevaluate their choices and way of life. I used Uncle Sam to represent the United States in distress, and what better way to do that then put him in a profile and make him look sorrowful. The hat off of his head is a signification that he has given up, he has done all that he could to save America, so now he is trying to leave it up to the people of the US to take action, whether it be people starting a revolution, or taking it one person at a time. This is where the "reevaluation" comes in. The person will recognize what he has done wrong, change it, and go on with their life. At first I started a rough draft using colored pencils, then I used Sharpie on the back side and let it bleed through, and then I just colored over the bled side which gave different areas of boldness. The different quotes on the paper is another reevaluation aspect, and makes people question, no matter if they have done everything right, or have fallen to do bath things and impact hard times, that get even harder.
